The Travels of Tug 44 |
Tug Robert E. McAllister |
Tug Robert E. McAllister plows south in Newark bay in a big hurry! Now we know what she can do with that 4000 horsepower from her twin Caterpillar engines. She is a "tractor tug", meaning her propellers are attached to rotatable pods and can push in any direction.
The Robert E was built in 1970 and then rebuilt as a tractor tug in 2005. She is 109 feet long and 29 feet wide with a 13 foot draft.

Tug Robert E. McAllister turns left towards the Bayonne Bridge. This tugboat is owned and operated by McAllister Towing.
