The Travels of Tug 44

Execution Rocks Lighthouse

Execution Rocks Lighthouse was built in 1850, in Long Island Sound north of Sands Point, at North Hempstead on Long Island. The story goes, in colonial times, the British avoided public executions by chaining prisoners to these rocks and letting the tide do the rest.

A large solar panel provides power to the lighthouse.
