The Travels of Tug 44

Green River Covered Bridge
Guilford, VT

The Green River Covered Bridge is a 104 foot bridge crossing the Green River at Guilford, VT.

The bridge was built in 1830 by Marcus Worden. To the left is the Green River Bridge House, also built in 1830, now a bed & breakfast inn.

The bridge is built using the Town Lattice Truss design, of spruce beams pinned together by oak dowels.

Next to the Green River Covered Bridge, is the Green River Timber Crib Dam. The Dam makes a very strange tapping noise, like a drum beat rhythm. The site is about 3 miles down Jackson Stage Road, an unpaved dirt road that winds between the trees.
