The Travels of Tug 44

Creamery Covered Bridge
Brattleboro, VT

The Creamery Covered Bridge, built in 1879, is a 80 foot span crossing Whetstone Brook, in Brattleboro Vermont. When I visted in August 2009, the bridge was undergoing a major maintenance including replacement of some of the lattice beams and a fresh coat of paint. It looks like the work is nearly finished.

The unusual pedestrian way along side the bridge as well as the beautiful slate roof, were both added in 1917.

A side view of the bridge..

Seen here is the Town Lattice Truss construction. The light colored beams are the ones recently replaced.

A last view of the Creamery Covered Bridge, taken from upsteam, shows the crystal clear waters of Whetstone Brook.
